hmmm...here is my personal opinion
I loved the blurb and purchased this book without a thought but my "love" for this book quickly declined to "ok...I don't love it but still like it"....and then dropped rock bottom to "I don't like this at all"....and then finally reached below the rock bottom stage "this is disappointing, weird and do not like reading it at all".
I am not much into bdsm but still read a few because they are so well written with a good end/message etc. However, this story made me uncomfortable because of the humiliation bits. Here I was hugging this book initially thinking "oooohhh..it involves a wounded hero and a loving strong one to adore/protect and love him" (thanks to misleading blurb)...I sure did not like reading the humping the dirty boots bits and some of the dialogue....the transformation from a wounded/vulnerable shifter who was a slave for many years to a strong experienced and a little sadistic Dom was simply too sudden, strange and disturbing for me...The other hero who appeared to be strong, compassionate and loving initially suddenly turned into a "sub" who seemed to enjoy dirty& dusty boots and some degree of insults...nope...not my kind of book....
I love reading about wounded characters finding love and healing with the right person, and Jan Irving always delivers on that score. This is another great book from one of my favorite authors.
